Numerous accounts that have disseminated objective information on Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement and voiced criticism towards the HK and China government have been banned by the social medias Facebook and Instagram.
No legitimate reason has been given by these two companies regarding such actions. This raises Hong Kong people’s concern that these two companies are practicing political censorship.
The actions of these two social media companies deprive Hong Kong people of their rights to freedom of opinion and expression promised to all in the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We urge the Congress to officially warn social media corporations to stop their unreasonable banning of accounts, or else be sanctioned by the US government and its allies with the HKHRDA
We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:
Sanction social media corporations that ban accounts providing information on Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement
