A large group of young HK people were arrested and detained in the notorious San Uk Ling Holding Centre. As reported on internet, the arrestees were denied rights to speak to family or lawyers, were physically tortured and forced to confess allegations against them before being brought to the courts. They suffered gruesome injuries, bone fracture and severe bleeding, and there were even signs of gang rapes to female arrestees.
These coincide with the recent suspicious and abnormally high number of dead bodies found around HK districts, which were described as suicide cases without thorough investigations.
We plead with the US to promptly pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act 2019 with effective sanctions, to expose the truths and bring such brutality to justice.
