The Hmong helped the U.S. fought against the uprising Communist Laos in the secret war in 1962- 1975. This caused the Laos government to heavily despise the Hmong people. When the U.S. lost the Secret war and Vietnam war, they pulled out of Laos and abandoned tens of thousands of Hmong to be massacred by the new communist Laos government. The U.S. promised to evaluate the Hmong if the U.S. lost, but instead countless Hmong families and soldiers were left to be killed, raped, and tutored. Thousands died trying to get to Thailand in search of freedom and protection. Others went into hiding in the jungles where they are STILL there today even after 45 years since the war ended. Their cries are left unheard as they continue to be hunted down like animals by the Laotian military.
