We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Request for Sanctions Against Those Responsible for the Extradition Law Amendment in Hong Kong

Created on June 11, 2019

On 9 June 2019, over 1 million people took to the street to protest against a bill to amend the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance in HK. The Bill will remove the legislature’s power of HK to scrutize extraditon arrangements to Mainland China.

We believe that protecting human rights remains a fundamental part of US foreign policy. We urge that the US government should impose sanctions against those responsible for the passage of the Bill, whether pursuant to the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act or otherwise, by cancelling their visas and denying their entries into the United States, confiscating or freezing their US properties and/or their US financial products, and to adopt such other lawful measures as the US government thinks fit.
